Equality Day

Please join the Women's Issues Network, League of Women Voters of Dallas, Peacemakers Incorporated and the citizens of Dallas, including Mayor Tom Leppert and the Dallas City Council members for "Equality Day" to celebrate 90 years with the right to vote at 12 Noon on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in the Flag Room of the Dallas City Hall 1500 Marilla, Dallas and afterwards for Equality Day programs* at the Women's Museum at 3800 Parry Ave, Dallas, TX.
 
*All Equality Day participants are invited to the Women's Museum for the following special programs:  1-2PM - Lunch (if purchased in advance by calling 214-915-0890); 2-3PM - Liz Abzug, daughter of former Congresswoman Bella Abzug**, will speak on "Women, Power, Politics and Leadership"; 3-5PM - Vintage movies will be shown in the auditorium of the Women's Museum.
 
**Former Congresswoman Bella Abzug sponsored the bill to establish "Equality Day", which is the annual commemoration of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The 19th Amendment (also known as the "Woman Suffrage Amendment" or the "Susan B. Anthony Amendment"), which granted American women the right to vote.
